On the occasion of
World Metrology Day,
Farzaneh Ansari, President of the Iran National Standards Organization (INSO), underscored the critical role of metrology in fostering trust in data, evidence-based policymaking, and sustainable national development.
Referring to this year’s theme,
“Metrology: Building Trust in Policy Making” Ansari emphasized that accurate, traceable, and reliable measurements are essential for effective governance, economic planning, industrial development, and informed decision-making. She noted that trust in governance depends fundamentally on trust in data and confidence in measurement results.
She added, in a situation where countries are facing complexities, environmental challenges and rigid regional and international developments and our dear country has also faced brazen aggression, we need to have policies based on accurate data, precise measurements, and reliable assessment systems.
Ansari also emphasized that strong national metrology infrastructure is vital for enhancing international trade, supporting innovation and knowledge-based industries, strengthening technical credibility, and expanding technical cooperation with global partners. She noted that international confidence in products begins with confidence in testing and measurement results.
Reaffirming INSO’s commitment to advancing the country’s quality infrastructure, Ansari stated that the Organization will continue strengthening national metrology capabilities, traceability system, and accredited labs support mechanisms to enable more transparent, precise, and effective policymaking.
Concluding her message, she described metrology as “the common language of trust in the economy, industry, and governance,” highlighting its indispensable contribution to sustainable development and international competitiveness.
